A great effort for a great artist! Though Geeta Dutt remains my favorite I do follow and appreciate many others including Shamshad Begum.
Just an observation..... I think the song from Humayun ..... main tau odhoon gulabi chunariya aaj re was sung by the actor Veena herself. I very vividly remember her interview with Tabassum in one of the episodes of Phool khile hain Gulshan Gulshan in which they showed this song and Veena said that she had sung it herself.
Atul ji, The Geet Kosh clearly credits this song to Shamshad ji. I have used the same credit. The song above, on listening to me, clearly has Shamshad ji's voice. Perhaps, Veena ji sang for the film version or mistook it for another song. Best Regards Hildebrand
Madam Shamshad Begum is really one of the best singers ever and also one of my favourite singers. Thank you so much for contributing these rare gems by her. I also could download some songs. If you want some contribution for the site (her faces, her co-signers, her composers, etc.) I would be delighted to help.
A few corrections...Peene Ke Din Aaye is by Umrao Zia/Amrozia Begum, wife of MD Ghulam Haider. Please also add Mere Bagh Ka Mali in Khandan 1942. I tried to download some songs but it did'nt work. Could you please share mp3s except Meri Ammi Ka raj Bhala? Are these songs available online for download?
But i am unable to view the songs list of early 40's and Late 40's also not able to scroll down if they are seen sometime... Please help. Roshan 9768937995
